Divide
DIVIDE
Flowered words cease
No more about the delight in the eyes
No ear given to praise of beauty fair
Display falls away and left in it's place
A battleground.
What's left but to bury
What once was glad memory
Of days gone by merry and glad?
Left instead a weary heart
And a heart unaware of it's place
What are words,
Reflections of desire
Or a quarry of self-deception?
Can actions overcome
The bite of a dagger, a tongue?
Mine has ceased it's wagging
Thy heart has ceased it's grasping
Our hearts have ceased to beat as one
Yet even in pain and distance and sorrow
The beats remain in rhythm
Thoughts never far
No wandering intent
Purpose and meaning questioned
Minds still locked, twin souls tangled
Is it a twisted two or one struggling divide?
Reach escape velocity,
Two orbits decay
Where do they revolve?
Did revolution break
A complimentary journey
Two planets moved in crossing paths?
The sun is a constant
Moon a distraction
Stars fall, meteors strike
beauty pockmarked with wounds cut deep
A celestial road of strife
To the left spins one
The other to the right
Do they intersect or flee the kiss of meeting?
Do they travel a road of divergent wills
Or are they pulled by the sun that holds them together?
To say I love thee would be repetition
A nuisance of letters with jumbled meaning
Thy heart resigned
With a sob and a sigh
Want and need no longer companions.
To show I love thee
Would insist on time, and sharing
The galaxy in which we dance
Prove I must that my globe spins true
That my world is my sun
and thy world.
